Food and Weight: An Ongoing Journey

Thursday I’ve Got Friday on My Mind

Posted on: January 4, 2013

(And there are bonus points for whoever gets the reference.)

Yesterday, C and I went to see Les Miserables (and it was well worth seeing).  We bought our tickets, and stopped into a nearby Mexican restaurant for lunch, then got back to the theater in time for the movie..

Now, when at home, lunch tends to be my small meal of the day — some protein and lots of veggies.  This lunch was huge enough to make us both feel stuffed, but it was quite good.  I had three enchiladas (one cheese, one beef, one chicken), about 1/2 cup of refried beans, and about 1/4 cup of Mexican rice.  I knew I had the weekly points left to spend, so I knew I would stay within my limit, but — given my physical quirk — I was sure I would gain today….

To my surprise, however, I lost 2 lbs., for a total of 25 lbs. gone, and a new weight of 237.4.  I credit this to several things:

  • Tracking pretty religiously
  • Consuming less coffee (with milk & Splenda) and more plain tea (with Splenda but no dairy)
  • Sticking to having the majority of my meals be 1/3 protein & 2/3 veggies

Sadly, even though I’m beginning  to feel more like walking, it’s been way too cold to do very much in that department this week.

At meeting, we wrapped up talking about the first phase of the new 360 program:  learning to observe our routines and make one small change at a time.  We also continued to commit to making one small change per week, writing it on the back of our weekly sheet.  This week, mine is to cut out diet soda.

I don’t have walking figures this week, since I only went out the one day, and forgot my pedometer when I went.

I am a pretty happy puppy overall this week, though.  I kept my word, did something to recharge myself, and lost a good amount of weight for one week.

What gets you charged up and raring to go?  Does the weather affect how much exercise you get?  What do you do when you cannot get out in the fresh air to exercise and recharge?
